The Institute for Enhanced Cardiovascular Outcomes

The Institute for Enhanced Cardiovascular Outcomes (IECO) is an independent focused nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the survival and quality of life for people with cardiovascular disease through research and education. Since its inception in 2004, IECO has played a major role in realizing dramatic improvements in the lives of countless numbers of patients by establishing the safe use of new technologies and therapies in the subspecialty of interventional cardiology and endovascular medicine.

The Institute for Enhanced Cardiovascular Outcomes:

• Fosters clinical expertise developed by their world-class training along with wisdom accumulated by years of experience in interventional cardiology practice combined with the utilization of emerging technology.
  
  
• Is comprised of noted clinical scientists, educators and clinicians, we are called upon on a regular basis to present new research findings to our peers at international, national meetings.

The physicians at WMALA have committed their professional careers to medical discovery. Many of these past efforts have led to innovations in the delivery to care to patients around the world. But as long as cardiovascular disease remains the number one killer in the United States we remain committed to research efforts aimed at reducing its malignant potential.

The IECO is currently involved in a variety of important research efforts with a focus on: Early diagnosis of cardiovascular disease Development of new cardiovascular imaging modalities agents The role of cardiovascular disease in the development of dementia Nonsurgical treatment of cardiac (arterial and valve) and peripheral vascular diseases (aortic aneurysm, vascular ulcers) Assessing the efficacy and safety of new pharmacologic agents for hypertension, heart failure and arrhythmias As a patient, your WMALA physician may request that you consider participating in a clinical research project.
