Do you suffer from uncomfortable and unsightly varicose veins?
VNUS Closure can help get rid of varicose veins in less than an hour.
If you suffer from varicose veins, you’re a member of a very large club. Some 25 million Americans face a daily struggle with ropey veins that can cause throbbing pain, severe swelling, and heavy, tired legs and disfiguration. Varicose veins are caused by venous reflux or venous insufficiency and can begin to appear as soon as adolescence. By the age of 50, half of Americans have the condition. VNUS Closure is a quick and painless solution.
What is Venous Reflux Disease?
Venous reflux or venous insufficiency develops when the valves that usually keep blood flowing out of your legs become damaged or diseased, causing varicose veins and symptoms of discomfort and disfiguration. Once it appears, venous reflux disease never goes away by itself – it's a progressive condition that can only worsen unless treated. Fortunately, the minimally-invasive, device-based advances in medical technology that have so profoundly impacted heart, lung and brain surgery in recent years are now having a similarly revolutionary impact on the treatment of varicose veins. The next-generation VNUS ClosureFAST™ catheter represents the cutting edge of that technology.

Inexpensive – VNUS closure is covered by most insurances for patients who meet the criteria for Venous Reflux Disease

How does it work?
The VNUS closure allows your doctor to close the diseased veins by inserting a small catheter and heating the vein wall using temperature-controlled radiofrequency energy. Heating the vein wall causes collagen in the wall to shrink and the vein to close. After the vein is sealed shut, blood then naturally reroutes to healthy veins.

Other Services
Sclerotherapy– If you do not have Venous Reflux disease but still suffer from unsightly telangiactasia, otherwise known as “spider veins,” we specialize in sclerotherapy for their removal. Sclerotherapy is the process of injecting a small chemical agent into the vein to seal it off and cause it to be absorbed back into the body.
Ambulatory phlebectomy – A process used in the office to remove smaller incompetent veins after
your VNUS procedure has been performed.
Before Your Procedure
To help alleviate symptoms until your procedure is performed, we recommend you buy compression stockings now.
Over-the-counter anti-inflammatories may also help alleviate your pain.
Other conservative measures include elevating your legs and avoiding long periods of standing.
What to Expect
Your first appointment will include a Venous Duplex Ultrasound, a painless procedure in which the veins are mapped using ultrasound waves.
If the Ultrasound shows Venous Reflux Disease, you will be scheduled for the VNUS Closure procedure, done in our office and taking less than hour.
There is no recovery time. You can walk out the same day!
We approximate a couple follow-up appointments to check on the status of your legs. At that time we may opt to close other veins if necessary or use sclerotherapy to eliminate small spider veins.
